چکیده
Molecular separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) is growing interest for biogas upgrading, capture utilization, synthesis purification natural gas. Here, we report a new zeolitic-imidazolate framework (ZIF), coined COK-17, with exceptionally high affinity the adsorption CO2 by London dispersion forces, mediated chlorine substituents imidazolate linkers. COK-17 type flexible Zn(4,5-dichloroimidazolate)2 SOD topology. Below 200 K it displays metastable closed-pore phase next to its stable open-pore phase. At temperatures above K, always adopts structure, providing unique sites selective packing through van der Waals interactions groups, lining walls micropores. Localization adsorbed molecules Rietveld refinement X-ray diffraction data periodic density functional theory calculations revealed presence nature different sites. In agreement experimental data, grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations isotherms CH4 in confirmed role functions linkers demonstrated superiority compared other adsorbents such as ZIF-8 ZIF-71.

Carbon dioxide sensitivity of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks.
Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks of zinc, cobalt, and cadmium, including the framework ZIF-8 commercially sold as Basolite Z1200, exhibit surprising sensitivity to carbon dioxide under mild conditions. The frameworks chemically react with CO2 in the presence of moisture or liquid water to form carbonates. This effect, which has been previously not reported in metal-organic framework chemistry, p...

متن کاملThe van der Waals interaction
The interaction between charged particles via the Coulomb interaction is one of the most important features in physics and is familiar to any student of the subject. The way in which electrons and protons bind to form the hydrogen atom is also well known and is a staple of any quantum mechanics course. However, less familiar is the interaction between such bound systems at separation R, which i...
متن کاملVan der Waals interaction between two crossed carbon nanotubes.
The analytical expressions for the van der Waals potential energy and force between two crossed carbon nanotubes are presented. The Lennard-Jones potential between pairs of carbon atoms and the smeared-out approximation suggested by L. A. Girifalco (J. Phys. Chem. 1992, 96, 858) were used. The exact formula is expressed in terms of rational and elliptical functions. The potential and force for ...
متن کاملZeolitic imidazolate frameworks for kinetic separation of propane and propene.
Propane/propene separation by cryogenic distillation is one of the most energy and cost intensive industrial processes. Adsorptive separation is a more energy-efficient alternative. Three isostructural zinc imidazolate zeolitic framework materials are found, for the first time, to be very promising in the separation of propene and propane based on their different diffusion rates. Fine-tuning of...
